“I swear to God I want to kill you right now. Was this your plan all along, Noelani? Fuck him and then come back to me like this shit is going to be sweet? Huh? I want to murder you right now.” His grip around my neck tightened and although I wanted to fight back, knew I could fight back, I refrained from doing so. Death seemed more pleasant than the hell I was living in.

“Remember,” I tried to speak but the lack of oxygen was making it hard. “Remember you asked me to show you how much I loved you? This is it, Dom. I did this for you. You placed him in my sight.” The browns and grays of his eyes had transformed to onyx coals as he glared at me.

Even with the rage and anger he felt towards me, I saw the love behind it all, and that’s all that mattered. Regardless of what I done; Dominique loved me.

“Go kiss your lover goodbye. We’re leaving.” Releasing me from his deathly grip, Dominique stormed out of the study inside the castle I intentionally rented.

Again, my pursuit of Cassian wasn’t by accident. This day had been planned for a year and a half. That’s the amount of time I needed to research and become familiar with him. Infiltrate myself in his life. Manipulate him into falling in love with me and then…boom…I’d disappear.

Nothing you ever plan out goes the way you want it to. Turns out karma manipulated me into being the one to fall in love.

Hearing the gun cock behind me, I put on my big girl panties and prepared to air out all my secrets. I wish the ground would open and suck me up.

“Turn around and face me.” His hard edge steely voice sent my heart racing and knees knocking under my dress.

Obeying his command, I turned around and begged my tears to hold on a little longer. Cassian, my strong warrior, looked wounded. Defeated. His pecan skin had a red tint to it. Eyes were red. Tip of his nose red.
